The experience
The Great Rift Valley cuts straight through this expedition, from the calm waters of Lake Naivasha to the rhino sanctuary of Lake Nakuru. It's a shorter, gentler pace than a Mara safari — ideal for couples, short breaks, or anyone who wants dramatic Rift Valley scenery alongside excellent wildlife.
Expect boat rides among hippos, walks among giraffe and zebra on Crescent Island, and game drives past both black and white rhino in one of Kenya's most important conservation areas.
Your itinerary
Nairobi → Lake Naivasha
Depart Nairobi and descend into the Rift Valley, arriving at Lake Naivasha for lunch. In the afternoon, take a boat ride on the lake among pods of hippo, followed by a walk on Crescent Island among giraffe, zebra and waterbuck.
Naivasha → Lake Nakuru
Travel to Lake Nakuru National Park, one of Kenya's premier rhino sanctuaries. An afternoon game drive introduces you to both black and white rhino, along with the park's resident flamingo populations when water levels are right.
Full day at Nakuru
A full day exploring the park's varied habitats — from acacia forest to open grassland and lakeshore — tracking rhino, lion, giraffe and the park's rich birdlife.
Nakuru → Nairobi
A final morning game drive before breakfast, then depart for Nairobi, arriving in the early afternoon.
