Nairobi is the only capital city on earth that borders a national park — which means you can see lions, rhinos and giraffes in the morning and be back in the city by lunch. The Nairobi Discovery is built for travellers with a layover, a short stay, or simply a spare day before or after a longer safari.
In a single day you'll go from a game drive on the edge of the savannah to hand-feeding orphaned elephants and endangered giraffes — a compact introduction to Kenya's wildlife without leaving the city.
Your day
Pickup & Nairobi National Park
Your driver-guide collects you from your hotel or the airport in a private 4×4. Head straight into Nairobi National Park for an early game drive, when lions, rhinos, giraffes, zebra and buffalo are at their most active against the backdrop of the city skyline.
David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust
Arrive at the elephant orphanage during its one-hour public viewing window to watch rescued baby elephants play and feed, and hear the story of how each one came to be there.
Lunch
A relaxed lunch break at a restaurant near the park (own expense, or we can arrange it as part of your package).
The Giraffe Centre
Hand-feed endangered Rothschild giraffes from an elevated platform and learn about the conservation work protecting one of Africa's rarest giraffe species.
Drop-off
Return to your hotel or the airport, or extend your evening with one of the optional add-ons below.
Good to know: The David Sheldrick elephant orphanage is only open to visitors between 11am and 12pm daily, so this itinerary is built around that window. Timings can be adjusted for later flights or hotel check-in times.
